I was not always the confident person you see today.

I grew up as the son of two US Chess Champions: Grandmaster Alexander Ivanov and Woman International Master Esther Epstein. 

My parents spent their lives mastering strategy, competing under pressure, and performing on world stages but I was the complete opposite.

After moving from Russia to Boston at age 9, I became the shyest person in almost every room.

Infact  wouldn’t raise my hand in class, avoided speaking up because I was afraid of saying the wrong thing. 

When I became a software engineer, I avoided picking up the phone because I wasn’t sure what to say.

Standing in front of a room to present my work felt impossible.

But over time, I made a decision to change. One small step at a time, I worked on my confidence, communication, and ability to connect with people.

That decision changed my life.

Today, I’m known as the DOORS Wizard – a trusted expert that people turn to for advice in my field.

My parents taught me that mastery is never an accident. Every champion was once a beginner who refused to stay one. I believe the same is true for career visibility.
